Federal Minister for Education Julia Gillard has this week announced a massive $810 million package of funding to 537 schools across the country, focussing on the construction and upgrading of science and language facilities.
The spending spree has been included as part of the Rudd government's overarching "Education Revolution" agenda, one of the flagship programs of the Rudd government. This round of spending is focussed on secondary schools, eminently those in regional areas. Amongst the projects highlighted by Gillard in her Tuesday press release were $1.97 million science facilities in Tennant Creek and Bourke High Schools and a $1.4 million language centre for Tagai State College on Thursday Island.
Gillard's Education Revolution program totals $14.7 billion dollars, and has thus far consisted mostly of IT spending and infrastructure upgrades to public schools in all states.
